"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different"
- CoCo Chanel
I think I started designing things from the time I could first pick up a crayon. Looking back, I drove my mother a bit batty by rearranging my bedroom monthly and repainting the walls whenever the whim hit me.
I designed all of my own clothing (except for my hippie jeans) throughout high school, and hand always been moved by colors and textures.
I have painted watercolors, thrown pottery, created sculptures, woven tapestries, and stained glass windows. I design jewelry from my mind, inspired by music & poetry, the beauty in nature, the organic shape of materials and stones that I use, and events through my life. The exceptional charm of my work shines through in the even spacing of my beading and the quality of materials I used. Each of my creations is truly a timeless collectible piece of art.
I'm a native of the lush mountain area of Upstate New York, but have lived 30 years on the shores of Rhode Island enjoying the surf, sand, sea glass and driftwood I have collected. Now I am back in the mountains of New York for next few years. I am enjoying the woods and lakes again with my beau, our 2 dogs and 4 saucy cats.
As a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design I have worked designing high end kitchens, baths, and residential remodels for over almost two decades as a profession. I discovered beading 13 years ago when my BFF made me a strung beaded bracelet and have been obsessed with it ever since.
Cheeky Mermaid is a name that thoroughly describes my outgoing and gregarious nature swirled with the fact that I always felt I was a mermaid in a past life :-)
I hope you enjoy browsing my shop and feel free to share it with your friends! I always welcome a client to contact me regarding a custom piece based on a cherished treasure they own, or a special occasion...the bead goes on...
